Hisham
Financial Consultant
I have always wanted to embark in the finance/banking industry every since I was in school due to Singapore's booming financial hub- but one thing that really held me back is the work commitment needed for this job.
But over the years, seeing my parents reaching their retirement, I decide that I am willing to take up the challenges and expectations required of me - just to secure financial freedom for my parents.
By extension, not only this career equips me with technical competencies to understand the volatile market out there, this career also develops my soft skills to truly understand the unmet needs of our society. To be in this line of work, not only do I upskill myself, but I also get the opportunity to make an impact on those around me.
Throughout my adventure so far, I learned that sometimes it's not about how much you know, but it's about how much you care. For example, to establish a relationship with a client, it is important to understand their dire needs and motivation first - before showing all the product knowledge. During my several joint field work, I observe that my seniors are very precise in identifying what is really mattered to the client, so that the client can open up to us which facilitates us to curate an optimal personalized solution for the client.
One thing that was really pivotal to my journey was the company's financial support to pay for my CMFAS exam papers. This helps me to really focus on sharpening my true potential and fly higher - without constant need to self-pay for the exam fees. Subsequently, the company also curated a balanced mentorship structure by closely guiding me in my field work and also, allowing me to take initiatives in developing my business model that suit my style.
